Might tiny Bahrain be the spark that sets off a regional Arab war that then leads to a new Muslim Caliphate in the 10/40 window? (10/40 meaning the boundaries of 10 degrees North Latitude and 40 degrees North Latitude in the Eastern Hemisphere - basically the Muslim world).
Within the Muslim religion, there are two main factions; Shia, (or Shiite), Islam and Sunni Islam. Shia Islam is the more radical of the two and is the majority in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain . However it is the Sunni branch of Islam, the minority in the two countries that controls the reigns of power and government. The Shiites in Bahrain have been the ones protesting the Sunni rulers in their nation.
Word now is Saudi Arabia is sending in troops to quell the rebellious Shiites in Bahrain . However, the Shiites have declared this to be an act of war and have threatened to ask Shiite Islamic states such as Iran to intervene. Iran and their little dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would like nothing better than to stir up yet more chaos and wars in order to encourage the return of their Messiah, the Mahdi.
We can see the mid-east already sliding towards this new Islamified world, as groups in Tunisia , Libya and Egypt have all called for the implementation of Sharia based Islamic governments in their respective states.
Bible prophecy tells us that a powerful Kingdom will rise at the time of the end, and will come out of the South to engage in battle in the Holy Land, (Daniel 11:40). The book of Isaiah also tells us that one of the nations that make up this confederacy, (Egypt ), will be under the rule of a fierce leader, (Isaiah 19:4). Is this fierce leader and the King of the South one and the same? Time will tell, but for now we are seeing the first steps to the fulfillment of these prophecies.
note: In the video below at about the 1:30 mark, the interviewee explains that it is his opinion that there will be a Muslim Caliphate by 2021.
From the news article:
When Saudi Arabian troops rolled into Bahrain to help quell Shi’ite Muslim protests, the world’s top oil-exporting region inched closer to a sectarian stand-off that could involve non-Arab Shi’ite power Iran .
"Although this is unlikely at this stage, what may be perceived by some Bahrainis as foreign intervention may lead to calls by some for non-GCC intervention, such as from Iran, to protect the Shiites in the kingdom,” said Ghanem Nuseibeh, partner at consultancy Cornerstone Global. “Should the confrontation between the rioters and the non-Bahraini forces lead to substantial casualties, the likelihood of this happening will substantially increase.”

The Saudi force that went into Bahrain Monday, March 14, along with UAE and Kuwaiti units, to stabilize the royal regime is larger than reported, consisting of a National Guard brigade, a mechanized brigade of the Saudi army and a tank battalion – altogether 3,500 men. Official spokesmen in Riyadh said the units were put up by the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council to guard Bahrain 's oil facilities and the financial district of downtown Manama .

Top Bahraini Shiite clerics sought Muslim and international help as they warned that anti-regime protesters would be targeted with a "massacre." And as the violence escalated Iran , Bahrain 's Shiite neighbour across the Gulf, protested the "unacceptable" intervention of foreign troops there.
