Russia turns military gaze east to counter China

This a compelling article from a bible prophecy standpoint.  Russia has begun to turn it's gaze eastward towards the rising dragon in the eat, that being China. Both nations are now building up their armaments by the hundreds of million of dollars.

The Prophet Daniel told us that at the time of the end, and in fact during the latter part of the Tribulation period, the nations will rebel over the reign of the Antichrist.  An army from the South, (Egypt and the North African nations), will attack the Western armies of the Antichrist.  At the same time, an army from the North, (Russia and the nations of West Asia), will also enter the fray.  These attacking armies will be defeated and subjugated under the rule of the Antichrist.

This is when an immense army from the East will march on these combined armies of the Antichrist in the valley of Har Magedon.  A 200 million man army from the East Asian nations will cross the Euphrates River and thus will begin the war to end all wars, (to coin a phrase from WW1).

At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. Daniel NIV

But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. Daniel NIV

The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.  Revelation NIV

Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. Revelation NIV

From the article:
With warships and missiles, Russia is flexing its muscles in the Far East in a bid to defend its position as an Asian power against China's growing might. China's rise has forced Russia's leaders to turn their gaze eastward and reassess decades of Soviet-era planning for a land war on the European plain or the nightmare of a nuclear conflict with the United States. The match between the world's largest energy producer, Russia, and its largest energy consumer, China, might seem ideal. But the speed at which China's military is growing presses the question: how can Moscow feed the Chinese dragon with oil and gas but still contend with its increasing power?
