Israel threatens unilateral steps if UN recognizes Palestinian state

This coming September may well be a tipping point in history.  The world is pressuring Israel to accept the fact that a new Palestinian state will be unilaterally declared based on the pre-1967 borders.  Israel claims such a declaration will violate previous accords, and is warning that they will take steps of their own if the UN, and the EU proceed with such a plan.

Israel knows that any acceptance of borders based on the pre-1967 borders means suicide for the Jewish state.  Israel also knows that the ultimate goal of the Palestinians and every other Muslim Arab is to wipe Israel off the map, replacing it with a new Arab Islamic State called Palestine.  It's likely there will be a standoff come September between Israel and just about everyone other government on the planet.  The currently in the throws of revolution, middle-east nations will of course be incensed by Israel’s seeming intransigence.  Some of these nations, such as Iran, Syria and Hezbollah of Lebanon, are already licking their chops at the prospects of another battle with Israel.  The events of this coming September may be the catalyst to yet another Israel/Arab war, the battle which is foretold in Psalm 83.

The Israeli diplomatic corps conveyed the message that support for international recognition, particularly by most of the members of the European Union, encouraged the Palestinians to forgo negotiations with Israel and to move more quickly toward recognition at the UN of Palestinian statehood. Israeli diplomats stressed that such a move violates the Oslo Accords and will not lead to a Palestinian state even if the General Assembly grants recognition, but could lead to violence on the ground.
