Africa/Middle-East uprisings update

We will have more on the uprisings and revolutions sweeping through the middle-east and parts of Africa in additional blog entries.  Needless to say, what is occurring more than matches the words of Jesus Christ when he warned that the final days prior to his return to earth would be a time of major civil unrest and kingdoms coming against kingdoms.

When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. Mark 13:7-8 NIV

From the news articles:

Military officials loyal to Ivory Coast's internationally recognized president claimed Monday to have seized a fifth town in the country's far west, amid a deepening political crisis. Monday's announcement came as thousands of youths gathered in the country's commercial capital to volunteer for the army to defend the incumbent leader who refuses to step down.

Bahrain's king said a foreign plot against his Sunni-led island state had been foiled, and the head of the Gulf Cooperation Council warned that interference by Shi'ite Iran in the Gulf Arab states would not be tolerated. Confrontation between Sunnis and Shi'ites has stirred international tension in the oil-exporting region, gripped by its worst unrest in years.

Rival tanks deployed in the streets of Yemen's capital Monday after three senior army commanders defected to a movement calling for the ouster of the U.S.-backed president, leaving him with virtually no support among the country's most powerful institutions.
