Muslim Brotherhood: ‘Prepare Egyptians for war with Israel'

Should Egypt ultimately fall into the hands of the radical Muslim Brotherhood, it will most certainly move the Middle-East closer to war.  Israel has to be worried, (see Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quote below), about the possible Islamification of all its immediate neighbors into some sort of new Caliphate.  The bible is pretty clear that Israel’s belligerent Arab neighbors will become of one mind and mission in their zeal to destroy Israel as a Jewish nation.

With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”  Psalm 83:3-4 NIV

A leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt told the Arabic-language Iranian news network Al-Alam on Monday that he would like to see the Egyptian people prepare for war against Israel, according to the Hebrew-language business newspaper Calcalist. Muhammad Ghannem reportedly told Al- Alam that the Suez Canal should be closed immediately, and that the flow of gas from Egypt to Israel should cease “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.” He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” saying the world should understand that “the Egyptian people are prepared for anything to get rid of this regime.”

Hamas, which formed in Gaza as an outgrowth of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (MB), has an interest in exaggerating its role and coordination with the MB in this crisis. The following information has not been confirmed. Nonetheless, there is a great deal of concern building in Israel and the United States in particular over the role of the MB in the demonstrations and whether a political opening will be made for the Islamist organization in Egypt.

In Israel's neighboring Egypt, demonstrations and riots have continued unabated for almost a week straight. Netanyahu and Merkel reportedly spent a large amount of time during their meeting discussing the unrest. Netanyahu expressed fears that a radical Islamic regime like the one in Iran could also come to power in Egypt.
