Iran's president: Mideast upheaval will reach US

So the seeds of protests, insurrections and revolutions are starting to spread from the middle-east to other parts of the world.  Greece, which already went through major revolts last year, is back at it again with 30,000 people rioting in the streets. In Delhi India 40,000 people took part in a rally to protest rising food prices and unemployment, while in China some are trying to start up the same type of protests, (without much success as yet).  And finally, the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has warned that unrest will spread throughout Europe and the West, (we actually agree with him on that point).

Did Jesus know what he was talking about or what, when he told us that these types of events would be a major sign to watch for, just prior to his return.

“When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom”.  Luke 21:10-11 NIV

From the articles:

Greek riot police and protesters have clashed outside parliament during a mass rally taking place as part of a general strike. Police fired tear gas Wednesday at scores of protesting youths, who hurled rocks and firebombs as running battles broke out. More than 30,000 protesters had attended the rally, while the general strike halted public transportation and led to the cancellation of more than 100 flights at Athens International Airport, as unions stepped up opposition to the country’s austerity measures.

Thousands of people have gathered in the Indian capital, Delhi, to take part in a rally to protest against rising food prices and unemployment. A steady stream of protesters, carrying red flags, has been marching through the streets of central Delhi since early morning. The rally has led to massive traffic jams in the city. Trade unions who have called the rally say nearly 40,000 people will attend a meeting at the Ramlila grounds. Thousands will then march to parliament, they say.

Iran's president said Wednesday he is certain the wave of unrest in the Middle East will spread to Europe and North America, bringing an end to governments he accused of oppressing and humiliating people. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose own country resorted to violence to disperse an opposition rally earlier this month, also condemned Libya's use of force against demonstrators, calling it "grotesque." Iran's hard-line leaders have sought to claim some credit for the uprisings in Arab nations, saying they are evidence that its 1979 Islamic Revolution, which ousted the U.S.-backed shah, is being replayed.
