Food shortages and famines have been issues that the world has had to deal with throughout history. However, we are now moving away from localized issues and into a potential for a global food crises, with the accompanying problems, (diseases, social unrest, revolutions and perhaps wars).
This is exactly the scenario that the Apostle John foresaw and recorded for us in the book of Revelation. In chapter 6 of Revelation, we are told that at the entrance onto the scene by the Man of Sin, (Antichrist), the world would go through a series of events. First war and revolutions followed by a food crisis which would see hyperinflation in food prices, then the ultimate conclusion of war and a major food crisis....the deaths of many millions of people.
Watching world news, it appears that we are quickly moving into this prophecy from 2,000 years ago. Only God knows the timing of events, but it was Jesus Christ that told us the following:

Will 2011 be the year that we point to as the beginning of the great global food crisis? Food prices are soaring, supplies are very tight and already we have seen some very intense food protests flare up around the globe this year. When people don't have enough to eat, they tend to become very desperate, and unfortunately it looks like the global food situation is not going to improve much any time soon.
