Christian persecution is on the rise in some of the Islamic nations of the middle-east. First Iraq, now Egypt. Continue to pray for Christians around the world.
Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. Matthew 10:17-18 NIV
You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew NIV
From the articles:
The deadly bombing of a church in Egypt on New Year’s Day is just the latest example of persecution of the country’s minority Christians, a situation that has grown worse in the past few years and shows no signs of abating soon. Copts, the country’s largest Christian group, held protests across Egypt on Sunday and again on Monday aimed at a government it says has refused to deal with the violence directed at Christians.
“No one in Egypt or outside the country should be surprised by this attack,” said Heba Morayef, a Cairo-based researcher for Human Rights Watch. The government will never condone violence, but it has helped create an environment in which attacks can take place because it has done nothing to deal with fundamental discrimination in Egyptian society, she added.
