There are more ways than one in interpreting the coming prophetic events of the bible. One of those events is Israel and a peace treaty.
Some observers have said, (in particular Jack Van Impe), that immediately after a peace treaty is signed between Israel and the Palestinians, the Tribulation will begin. Observers of that interpretation look to events such as are happening now in the Middle-East where Israel is being pushed to accept a negotiated peace treaty by September of this year. As can be seen from the headlines below, the Palestinians are demanding that the United Nations recognize a new Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders by September of this year. They are also asking the Americans, (who could veto a United Nations resolution), to accept these borders. Such a resolution and acceptance by the Americans would force Israel to capitulate and agree to a negotiated settlement. Whomever the world sends to the table to sign off on this agreement would presumably be the Antichrist, (according to Daniel 9:27).
We are of another opinion, (which you can read about in one of today’s other blog entries), that a war will ensue first between Israel and its hostile neighbors, (the Psalm 83 war), which will change the dynamics of the Middle-East big time and ultimately force the world to accept this expanded Jewish nation by signing an agreement between the many and Israel. Then the Tribulation begins.
Whichever is your interpretation, Israel is the place to watch today, as this little nation is Gods time piece to end-time events.
From the article:
The Palestinian foreign minister says he will seek United Nations recognition for a Palestinian state in September and is currently lobbying for votes worldwide. The move is part of the Palestinians' so-called Plan B of pursuing an alternative to a negotiated peace deal while talks with Israel remain stalled. Riad Malki's announcement Sunday followed Chile 's recognition of Palestine , making it the fifth South American country to do so recently. The September target date has the month shaping up to be a crucial one for the Palestinians. It also marks the time frame for President Barack Obama's goal of reaching a peace deal and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's hope of having the foundations of the future state ready.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday accused the United States of lagging in its commitment to seeing the establishment of a Palestinian state. Abbas told Al-Jazeera that the Palestinians would agree to return to peace talks with Israel only if the United States agreed to recognize a state within 1967 borders and adhere to security accords reached during the Bush administration.
