Next Flashpoint in Mideast Could Be Gas Fields Off Mediterranean Coast

We have several blog entries about Israel’s newfound oil and natural gas discoveries and how these new riches could lead to the fulfillment of such prophetic wars as the Gog/Magog battle recorded in the book of Ezekiel.  While many other observers of bible prophecy also see this correlation, it is also becoming evident to some in the mainstream media that these discoveries could lead to war in the region, (see article below).

It's also interesting to note that not only is Lebanon's nose out of joint over Israel’s rapid exploration of this region of the Mediterranean, but now Turkey and Syria are challenging Israel’s boundaries in this natural gas rich area, with Egypt expected to follow suit.  All nations that will eventually come against Israel in the battles prophesied in Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38/39.

The next flashpoint in the Middle East could be the gas fields off Israel's Mediterranean coast, where the discovery of large cashes of natural gas is raising homes that Israel could soon become energy-self-sufficient but where a dispute with Lebanon could be ignited. 
The Iran-influenced Beirut government is threatening to defend its maritime “rights” and is complaining about Israel’s explorations. Lebanon’s appeals for international intervention begun last summer, immediately after Israel’s off shore gas explorations showed signs of positive results. Now that years of exploration have yielded what some energy experts estimate to be the world’s largest deepwater gas discovery in a decade, Beirut is raising the tone of its demands.
