Iran 1 year away from bomb

Now that the recent negotiations between various national political representatives and the Iranian regime over Iran’s nuclear ambitions have collapse, all eyes turn to Israel and what the Jewish states response will be.  We noted yesterday that a member of the IDF, (Israel Defense Forces), feels Israel has no choice but to initiate an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.  Now we see why.  The Israeli Military Intelligence Chief estimates that Iran could have a nuclear weapon within 12 to 24 months.  Israel will simply not allow such a threat to exist within striking distance of her borders.

We know that a "war" is already being staged in this volatile area, as it is suspected that Israel launched the Stuxnet worm to mess with Iran’s computer networks, and we also know that quite a few Iranian scientists have been, shall we say, liquidated or whacked.  But even after all this, Iran plows ahead with its plans.  It is now only a matter of time before an assault is made on these Iranian nuclear facilities, the consequences of which will be biblically in proportions.

Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.  Ezekiel 38:7-9 NIV

From the articles:
Iran will be able to manufacture an atom bomb within one to two years from the moment it decides to do so, Military Intelligence Chief Major-General Aviv Kochavi estimated Tuesday.  In his first appearance before the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the Military Intelligence chief said that the question is not when Iran will have a bomb, but how long it will take it to produce it from the moment Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei makes the decision. "Based on the infrastructure, technology and amount of uranium Iran has accumulated, they will be able to finish developing nuclear weapons within one to two years from the moment the leader decides."

After talks in Istanbul between Iran and the West on its nuclear program broke down on January 22, the danger of revival of a military option looms large. It may not come in the form of a direct, conventional US and/or Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear installations, but rather in the guise of the warfare of the future, with cyber-weapons and terrorism. Political forces opposed to such an escalation in the Iran conflict would do well to examine the reasons why dialogue on the nuclear issue has failed thus far, and reshape their approach to dealing with the Islamic Republic.
