Chant Revival

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The reform of the reform is underway. Pope Benedict XVI assured us it would happen, though he said it would take time and that we must be patient. Eventually, the day will come, when all the novelties and innovations we know will pass. Remember, nothing is more "dated" than a contemporary mass. Within this reform of the reform is a return to chant, both Gregorian and Plainsong. Below are some examples of the kinds of renewals underway in various places.

Anglican chant is based on Roman Plainsong, and it is becoming the standard for Anglican Use parishes within the Roman Catholic Church. However, this form of Plainsong can find it's usefulness within English masses of the Ordinary Form as well, as it is best suited for the English language. Here's an example...



Of course Latin Gregorian chant is the heart of sacred music in this reform of the reform. A great awakening in North America is happening right now.  Be patient, but be of good cheer, the time for our renewal has now come...
