(CNA) -- Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes, president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, is scheduled to meet with U.S. bishops to speak about the need to maintain the Catholic identity of the charitable outreach of the Church.
The president of the council, who in effect oversees all of the Church’s charitable activities, will travel to the United States to meet with the bishops during their November 10-13 meeting in Baltimore....

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: The folks at the Vatican have heard about U.S. Catholic Charity being used to donate money to ACORN, and they're not happy about it. The pope has dispatched a cardinal to "help" the U.S. Catholic bishops "understand" the proper use of charitable funds. I imagine a healthy lecture on the evils of "Liberation Theology" will accompany that, along with some probable "reorganization" of U.S. Catholic institutions. Can we say "woodshed?" We can only hope.
