THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: For the record, women who claim to be "womenpriests," or "priestesses," or just "priests," are neither ordained nor Catholic. Yes, that's right folks. There is no such thing as a female Roman Catholic priest. They do not exist. They never have and they never will.
Now on the other hand, there is such thing as female "clergy" in the Episcopal Church USA and in Anglican churches around the world. They're are also female "clergy" in the schismatic "American Catholic Church" which is really just another Protestant denomination. Likewise, there are former Roman Catholic women who pretended to be ordained using a liturgy similar to the Roman Catholic rite of ordination. However, Church Law now places an automatic excommunication on anyone who participates in such a ceremony. Which means those women who participated not only failed to be ordained, but they simultaneously forfeited their place in the Roman Catholic Church. They are no longer Catholics.
Such women would do well either to repent and seek to have their excommunication absolved, or else they should admit to what they really are - Protestants - and they should seek a place in a Protestant denomination that affirms women's ordination. Since they are no longer Catholic anyway, it would seem like the most logical course of action...
(CNA) - The Archdiocese of Boston has issued a statement in response to a group that planned and performed an ordination ceremony for three women in Boston on Sunday.
In the July 18 statement the archdiocese’s vicar general, Father Richard Erikson, explained Catholic teaching on the male-only priesthood and said the group, which calls itself Roman Catholic Womenpriests, is “not an entity of the Roman Catholic Church.”
